The Ruby Orchard is a homeware, clothing and gift store situated in the heart of Howick, South Africa. Owner, Hannah, is a true visionary, and has curated The Ruby Orchard’s carefully selected range of décor, ceramic and gifting items that are beautifully displayed in store. She also stocks new and refurbished furniture, frames and mirrors, made with care by her talented in-house team of carpenters. The shop has become a ‘must see’ for all who follow the brand on Instagram, and for those who are visiting other popular attractions in the area. After 8 successful years in business, Hannah decided that her visual branding needed a new look to better match the evolved feel of the brand that she has developed so naturally over the years.
Recognising the need for a new look when your brand has matured is not always easy, but it’s very exciting to embrace the change and cohesion that a new look can bring!
In this instance, we wanted the design of Hannah’s new visual identity to reflect the brands more refined feel – to create something intuitive and stylish that would fit in with the retail surrounds too. From the rustic, shabby-chic country style (and products) of old, to the fresh natural textures, raw woods and modern-vintage twists of new… We achieved this successfully in the branding through customising a modern, yet timeless, font for the logo and combining it with a natural, subtle colour palette and fresh imagery – in line with the curated style you see in store today.
